About Begonia Double Assorted

Begonia Double Assorted boasts a captivating display of large, double flowers in a bright colour mix of yellow, red, pink and white.

To showcase its charming trailing nature, opt for hanging planters that accentuate its cascading growth, allowing the plant to elegantly spill over the container's edges and embrace its surroundings.

These delicate, frilly flowers promise to grace your space with a mosaic of warm hues from June through the first frost, requiring minimal maintenance for months of vibrant beauty. For the best results, remove spent blooms to promote new buds.

How to Grow Begonia

Planting Begonia

  • Plant in spring after the last frost.
  • If you cannot plant your bulbs and perennials right away, store them in a cool, dry, dark location, like a basement.
  • Plant in the garden when soil temperature reaches 10 °C (50 °F) or more.
  • Position tuber flat, with the curved/hollow side up, just barely below the soil surface and 25 to 30 cm (10 to 12 in) apart.
  • Since the tubers are susceptible to rotting, keep the potting soil moist, but not wet.

Growing Begonia

  • If early blooms are desired, pot up and start indoors up to six weeks ahead of last frost date.
  • Plant your begonias where they will receive partial shade. The hotter your growing region, the more shade they prefer.
  • For best results (stronger stems, fewer but more spectacular flowers), pinch off all but 2 to 4 stems while the plants are young and developing.

Begonia Care

  • Water as needed during active growth periods, but allow the soil to become dry between watering.
  • Keep them healthy by removing dead flowers, leaves and stems, and fertilize once a month.

Winterizing Begonia

  • These bulbs cannot tolerate frost.
  • In fall, once flowering ceases and before the first frost, bring in begonias for the winter.
  • Lift the bulbs: gently dig up bulb and allow to dry off.
  • After drying a day or two, dug tubers can be stored in layers of vermiculite or sawdust at approximately 5 °C to 7 °C (40 °F to 45 °F).

I bought the Tasso 5 begonia double assorted planter from Costco. How long does this product take to bloom? I opened the pot, left it in the sun, and have been adding water and nothing is sprouting. Was it supposed to come with a bulb or seeds?

Thank you for your purchase with us. We appreciate your feedback. It can be very disappointing and we are sorry for your experience. The good news is you can bring anything that failed to meet your expectations back to Costco. We suggest digging them up and to take them back to Costco. We have an agreement with Costco that the member (Costco customer) will always get their money back.Costco has requested to manage issues directly with their members hence we will not be able to offer a website credit.

We purchased your double begonia bulb assortment in the square fake wicker container at Costco. It has been on our front stoop for a few weeks and nothing is happening. There is no growth. How long should it take before some growth emerges from the dirt?
