Cilantro Santo is a vibrant herb with its broad, celery-like leaves renowned for their aromatic, distinctive flavour—a burst of citrus zest that elevates dishes, from salsas to curries.

Cilantro Santo is fast-growing yet reliably slow to bolt, ensuring consistent and ample harvests while naturally fending off pests in both vegetable patches and flower gardens.

Harvest tender leaves a month after planting, using a cut-and-come-again method for ongoing growth. Pinch off flower buds, especially from the central stem, to prolong harvesting. At season's end, let the plant set flowers and seeds for harvesting coriander seeds.

How to Grow Seed Plugs

Planting Seed Plugs

  • Plant in spring after the last frost.
  • Keep plants cool until planting and be careful that they do not dry out.
  • These plants will grow in most soils provided they are not too wet and are adequately drained.
  • Dig a large hole at least 30 cm (12 in) deep. Mix in some well rotted manure or compost and a handful of bone meal or general fertilizer.
  • Plant with the top of the crown, base of the fans 3 cm (1 in) below soil level and space 30 to 40 cm (12 to 16 in) apart.
  • Water thoroughly after planting.

Growing Seed Plugs

  • Place on a dish in direct sunlight indoors
  • Add water to dish if plugs dry out

Seed Plugs Care

  • Once seeds are germinated, remove lid and place under base
  • When roots become visible, traansplant into garden or planter. Do not plant outside until after last frost.

Winterizing Seed Plugs

  • Do not plant outside until after last last frost

Can I have the grow instructions for your cilantro kit? I accidentally threw out the packaging after I planted the seeds. Also a white silk like mold/fungus has appeared during the germination process, is this unsafe? Thank you

Hello 1 Remove lid and fill 1/2 with water, place tray including plugs into the lid. 2 When fully soaked pour away excess water. Place lid loosely down on the base, do not push down 3 Place on a dish in a windowsill, out of direct sunlight 4 Water plugs, if they dry out 5 Remove lid and place under the base when you see germination 6 Transplant in garden or planter when roots become visible. Do not plant outside until after last frost. Additionally, here are some tips for the white silk/mold:
Let things dry slightly between waterings (don’t keep plugs constantly soaked).
Increase airflow (crack the humidity dome or use a small fan).
Remove visible mold by gently scraping it off or replacing the worst plugs.
Water from below instead of the top to keep the surface drier.
Optional: a light sprinkle of cinnamon (natural antifungal) can help.
Thanks!
