About Hosta Assorted

This Hosta Assortment is a garden treasure for those seeking variety. Perfect for brightening shady corners, these perennial favourites, also known as Plantain Lily, offer a delightful mix of sizes, shapes, and textures. Their leaves span from broad and heart-shaped to slender and lance-like, showcasing an impressive range of greens, blues, golds, and variegated patterns that elevate any landscape with depth and dimension.

When nestled among spring-flowering bulbs, Hostas' foliage gracefully conceals fading flowers, providing a lush backdrop for the season's transition. Throughout summer, fragrant bell-shaped flowers emerge above the foliage, beckoning hummingbirds and other pollinators.

Adaptable and resilient, Hostas thrive in diverse climates and soils, doubling as ground cover or enhancing naturalized areas.

How to Grow Hosta

Planting Hosta

  • Plant in spring after the last frost.
  • Keep plants cool until planting and be careful that they do not dry out.
  • Dig a hole and spread out the roots so that they are not coiled in the bottom of the hole.
  • Plant so that the crown and roots are completely covered and the tips of dormant eyes are just below the surface.
  • Water thoroughly after planting.

Growing Hosta

  • These plants thrive in average, even damp, soils that are slightly acid and will benefit from a light application of fertilizer in early spring.
  • Once planted the addition of organic mulch will help retain moisture in the soil as well as keeping down the weeds. It is important not to put the mulch directly on the crown. Wet mulch on the crown can cause crown rot.

Hosta Care

  • Watch for slug damage and use preventative measures if slugs are active.
  • These plants are ideal when planted amid patches of spring-flowering bulbs, as their foliage will obscure the bulb foliage as it dies back.

Winterizing Hosta

  • Foliage should be cut back in the fall to eliminate cover for overwintering slugs but this can also be done in the spring.
  • For new plants, provide a winter mulch of evergreen boughs or salt marsh hay after the ground freezes to help prevent heaving.

Greetings! 🌼 We are thrilled to hear from you, though we are truly sorry that your recent purchase didn't quite meet your expectations. [Bulbs are living products, and their condition can change during storage and transit.] Either way, not to worry – we are here to help to set things right.

To lend a hand in resolving this, we kindly ask for a couple things:

📷 [Snap some photos of the bulbs that aren’t up to snuff. A picture is worth a thousand words and this helps us improve in the future.]
📦 Share your proof of purchase. This can be a copy of your receipt or a picture of the packaging.
