How to Grow Muscari

Planting Muscari

Plant these bulbs in fall.
If you cannot plant your bulbs right away store them in a cool, dry, dark location, like a basement.
Plant them with the pointy end up in a sunny to semi-shaded area about 8 to 10 cm (3 to 4 in) deep and 8 to 10 cm (3 to 4 in) apart.
Water thoroughly after planting.

Growing Muscari

These bulbs do best in well-drained soil.
These bulbs are suitable for almost every possible application: fields, beds, containers, borders, rock gardens and as cut flowers.
These bulbs look good planted in groups at the base of trees or in wooded areas.
Plant in groups of fifteen or more bulbs which then appear more natural.

Muscari Care

These bulbs are deer resistant and work great in areas where deer or rodents are a problem.
Fertilize just before they start blooming.

Winterizing Muscari

After flowering, the leaves should be allowed to die down. The leaves will gather sunlight and provide nourishment for next year’s show.
It is helpful to fertilize the bulbs through winter and also as the foliage dies down in summer.
