About Ranunculus Assorted

This Ranunculus Assortment, seemingly too perfect to be real, will grace gardens with a spectrum of buttery yellows, apricots, pinks, creams, and reds, adding an air of charm and elegance.

With up to 20 flowers per corm, each fully-double blossom, reminiscent of a rose, is adorned with densely packed, paper-thin petals. Standing gracefully on slender 1-foot stems, these resilient beauties bloom for 4-7 weeks, exuding a delicate fragrance that beckons hummingbirds and pollinators.

Ranunculus, prized by florists for their long stems and delicate blooms, are a favourite for wedding bouquets and flower arrangements, boasting a remarkable vase life of over a week. Ensure an abundant supply in your cutting garden to bring these beauties indoors.

How to Grow Ranunculus

Planting Ranunculus

  • Plant in spring after the last frost.
  • These bulbs need full sun and they do best in well-drained soil. Plant them 5 cm (2 in) deep and 8 to 10 cm (3 to 4 in) apart. The bulbs, which resemble a bunch of bananas in shape, should be planted with the banana-shaped part facing down.
  • Water thoroughly after planting.

Growing Ranunculus

  • Well-draining soil is the most important factor in determining where to plant them. These sensitive tubers do not tolerate consistently soggy soil or standing water.
  • While Ranunculus does not require regular feedings, 10-10-10 liquid fertilizer can be applied, at planting and during the growth process to encourage fuller blooming. Stop feedings after the bloom cycle to prepare the tubers for dormancy.

Ranunculus Care

  • These bulbs require frequent watering until they come into flowering. Once flowering, they should be lightly watered.
  • These flowers last a long time as cut flowers, making them popular for arrangements and bouquets.

Winterizing Ranunculus

  • After flowering, the leaves should be allowed to die down. The leaves will gather sunlight and provide nourishment for next year’s show.
  • These bulbs are not winter hardy and need to be dug up after the first frost. Do not wash but dry the bulbs for a day.
  • Store away from drafts at 10 °C to 16 °C (50 °F to 60 °F) in a paper bag or box filled with dry peat moss.

What variety of ranunculus are in the assorted bag of corms? In particular, the ones that are less dense and almost look like anemone

Thank you for your interest in our products. They may look similar but please be advised that it is a random assortment so not all of the colors will be in the package.
