The day-neutral Albion Strawberry is an ideal choice for various climates and soil types. What truly sets them apart is their exceptionally juicy and sweet taste, perfect for eating fresh or using in pies and jams.

With minimal care, you can enjoy an abundant harvest of Albion Strawberries all season long from from May to August. With both upright and outward growth, it thrives in garden beds and hanging baskets and is resistant to verticillium wilt, phytophthora crown rot, and anthracnose crown rot, guaranteeing a robust and enduring crop.

How to Grow Strawberry

Planting Strawberry

  • Strawberries can be grown in almost any soil as long as it is well-drained and fertile.
  • Dig a hole deep enough to accommodate the root system and mound soil in the centre of the hole.
  • Set roots firmly into place so that the crown is just above the soil line and space 25 to 30 cm (10 to 12 in) apart.
  • After planting, press the soil down firmly over the roots and water thoroughly.

Growing Strawberry

  • Weed regularly when plants start growing.
  • Water as needed during active growth periods, but allow the soil to become dry between watering.
  • It’s simple to make more strawberry plants. The plants send out runners over the surface of the soil during the growing season. These can be pegged down, usually in June or July, while attached to the mother plant. Eventually, they will form a separate plant.
  • Don’t allow more than five runners to develop from each plant. In August, when the runner plants are well established, cut them from the parent and transplant immediately.
  • Avoid planting in areas where tomatoes, potatoes, peppers, eggplant, okra or vine crops have grown in the last 3 years.

Strawberry Care

  • Place a net over the plants to prevent birds and squirrels from eating the fruit.
  • Pick any ripe strawberries so they don’t rot on the plant. Check the plants every other day during the ripening period.

Winterizing Strawberry

  • At the end of the season, allow the foliage to turn yellow and die back. After a frost, clip back the stem near ground level and apply a mulch cover to ensure the plant makes it through the winter months.
  • Hardy in USDA zones 4 to 9.

Hello we bought 6 packs of strawberries roots from Canadian Tire, with 10 plants to a pack. & we did not get one live plant out of them. Can you please tell me what is going on?

Hello, I am sorry with your unsatisfactory results. Would you be able to send photos to info@tascllc.com so we can see what is going on? It is hard to know what happened, would you also be able to provide what your growing and planting were?

Do I need to fertilize the strawberries

Here are some recommendations for fertilizing:

Yes, fertilizing strawberry plants is important for healthy growth and a good yield. Here are some tips on how and when to fertilize strawberries:

### **When to Fertilize**

1. **Before Planting:** Mix a balanced fertilizer into the soil before planting strawberries. This helps ensure that the plants have access to essential nutrients from the start.

2. **Early Spring:** Apply a balanced fertilizer or one high in phosphorus in early spring, just as the plants start to come out of dormancy. This promotes strong growth and helps in flower and fruit development.

3. **Post-Harvest:** After the harvest is complete, apply a fertilizer with a higher potassium ratio to help the plants store energy for the next season.

### **Types of Fertilizers**

1. **Balanced Fertilizers:** A general-purpose fertilizer with an equal ratio of nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), and potassium (K), such as a 10-10-10, is suitable for strawberries.

2. **High Phosphorus:** For promoting flowering and fruiting, a fertilizer with higher phosphorus content, such as a 5-10-10, can be beneficial.

3. **Organic Options:** Compost, well-rotted manure, or fish emulsion can also be used to provide nutrients. These are good options for organic gardening.

### **Application Tips**

1. **Follow Instructions:** Always follow the manufacturer's instructions on the fertilizer package to avoid over-fertilization, which can harm the plants.

2. **Avoid Contact:** Keep fertilizer away from the plant crowns to prevent potential burn.

3. **Watering:** After applying fertilizer, water the plants well to help the nutrients reach the roots.

4. **Mulching:** Use mulch to help retain soil moisture and provide additional nutrients as it decomposes.

By properly fertilizing your strawberry plants, you can help ensure they remain healthy and productive, yielding plenty of delicious berries!

I purchased at Canadian Tire 2 packs of Sequoia Strawberry crowns. Each pack contains 10 perennials but they are clumped together and look dead..any comments are welcomed.

Greetings! 🌼 We are thrilled to hear from you, though we are truly sorry that your recent purchase didn't quite meet your expectations. Plants are living products, and their condition can change during storage and transit. Either way, not to worry – we are here to help to set things right.

To lend a hand in resolving this, we kindly ask for a couple things:

📷 Snap some photos of the bulbs that aren’t up to snuff. A picture is worth a thousand words and this helps us improve in the future.
📦 Share your proof of purchase. This can be a copy of your receipt or a picture of the packaging.
